February Skies

Water Carrier

February 2008 starts off with us still feeling the lingering effects of Saturn Retrograde in Virgo, which will tend to crop up here and there through the end of April, as Saturn prepares to re-Direct in early May. Mercury has entered its first Retrograde period of the year, but it'll be a short-lived one: Merc re-Directs this month. Finally, Mars, now Direct in Gemini, has begun breaking up impediments to action that might have been felt recently. This is definitely a time for action, but thoughtful action -- use the intellectual nature of Gemini to direct your actions; do not act impulsively, out of emotion. Think first -- then act! Ready? Let's get into February!

Friday, 2/1, the third-quarter Sagittarius Moon will form a brief Square to Saturn, Rx in Virgo, exact at 4:03 a.m. PST. While brief, the effects of this Square may be rather strong, as the Planet of Restriction, looking backwards in the tradition-loving Sign of Virgo, forms a harsh aspect to emotional Luna in freedom-loving Sag. You may feel that outside influences restrict your freedom to be who you are and express how you truly feel. There will be more beneficial aspects this day as well, offsetting the feelings of restriction to some degree: at 3:33 a.m. PST, Venus will form a conjunction to Jupiter. When the "Lesser" and "Greater" Benefactors get together, they generally manage to cook up some Goodstuff, and with both planets in Capricorn at this time, it's likely that energy devoted to your job, career, or life's vocation will flow smoothly and produce great results. As always, note that one's job and one's "life vocation" may be very different things, but with Venus and Jupiter conjoined, there's a good possibility you'll see benefits in both areas: for example, if you work as a waitress to pay the bills, but are devoted to a career as an artist, it's possible you may get a minor raise at the restaurant, and also interest a gallery in hosting a show of your artwork. Finally, the Aquarian Sun will form a Sextile to Luna in Sag (Direct at 3:11 p.m. PST), again helping offset some of the stress of the Moon/Saturn Square. What a way to start the month, huh?

On Saturday, 2/2, Mercury and Neptune will form a conjunction in broad-minded Aquarius. This is a comfortable area for Mercury, at home with thoughts and communications of a universal or communal nature, although quirky Neptune may try to throw a wrench into the mix. This is another auspicious time for creative works and endeavors, but be careful not to permit your intellect to be overwhelmed by Neptune's dreamy nature. Rather, use the energy of Mars to bring your dreams into reality, as opposed to becoming ensnared in them.

Sunday, 2/3, the Moon enters Capricorn at 1:52 a.m. Your dreams will take on a more practical and achievable nature now, so what are you waiting for -- go out there and bring 'em into fruition! :D

Wednesday the 6th brings a new Moon in Aquarius, along with a Solar Eclipse. Astrologically, Solar eclipses are fairly powerful, with the Earth and its two Luminaries all working and playing so close together. Luna, seat of emotion, "blocks" Sol, representing the Will, and with Neptune still lurking around, there's a danger of, again, getting somewhat snared in daydreams. With Mars direct, activity is the watchword, but be sure to lay logical plans as you attempt to bring your dreams into the world.

Also on 2/6, Sol will conjoin Luna briefly, and Mercury for a longer period. Any lingering feelings of scattered thoughts or desire to get lost in fantasy, rather than attempting to make it reality, should begin to subside. Your thoughts will be clear and focused, and communications involving group efforts, humanitarian work, or universal goals should flow quite smoothly. A sextile between Venus and Ouranos may feature good news or good fortune through work with computers or electronics; allow your personal eccentricities a bit of steam at this time, as the unusual and cutting-edge are keywords for Ouranian aspects.

Thursday, 2/7, finds the Moon entering emotional, intuitive Pisces at 5:45 p.m. PST, briefly conjoining Neptune, and forming a brief Trine to active Mars and Sextile with mysterious Pluto.

On Sunday, 2/10, the Moon enters action-oriented Aries, while Sol Conjoins Neptune -- jeeze, those Outer Planets are doggin' us this month, aren't they? This is a time to trust your intuition, which is likely to be spot-on at this time. Heed the "inner voice," rather than telling it to settle down, for the moment. Your empathy and ability to read people and situations accurately are highlighted at this time. The only caveat is not to retreat into escapism, through daydreams, substance abuse, or simply putting your hands over your ears while repeating La la la, I can't heaaaar you should bad news crop up. Face things honestly, and be honest with yourself. If you can do so, this should be a wonderful, easygoing transit that will bring you closer to both your own inner needs, and those of the others in your personal orbit.

Monday, 2/11, will feature another brief Sun-Moon Sextile, close to 1 p.m. PST, and Luna in Aries can deliver a needed shot of energized enthusiasm to your feelings about the tasks before you, and the work to be done this month.

Tuesday the 12th will find Luna entering earthy Taurus at 1:30 a.m. PST, forming brief Trines to Pluto, Saturn, and Mercury. You may find yourself chafing at restrictions, real or perceived, upon your "me time," and as long as you remember that there are others who share your life, and that you don't want to tromp all over their feelings like a, well, "bull in a china shop," this is an excellent time to focus on yourself, your wants, needs, and desires -- even your whims, provided you don't cause harm to other people, places, and things while you indulge yourself! ;->

Thursday, 2/14, the Moon enters airy, intellectual Gemini a little after 4:15 a.m. A few hours later, just before 8:40 a.m. PST, Sol will form a Trine to Mars. Use the energy of Mars to tie up and complete the "Aquarian" work you've been doing this month, though please try to avoid aggressive arguments about political topics -- tough to do with the U.S. elections coming up, but try not to do any irreparable damage to relationships you'll either want, or need in some way, in the future. The Gemini Moon should help keep your emotions in proper check. By all means, speak your mind! But there's honestly no need to blow everyone else's mind while expressing your thoughts. Your communication style should be clear enough not to need any over-dramatizations, or exaggerations for effect.

On Saturday, 2/16, Luna enters Cancer at 7:12 a.m. PST, and on Sunday, the 17th, Lady Venus will break free from the embrace of restrictive Saturn, entering the broad, sweeping, group-oriented sign of Aquarius at 8:20 a.m. PST. You're likely to find -- or perhaps rediscover -- your comfort zone within large groups. Any activities involving groups should run smoothly at this time. Romantic or sexual relationships may ignite -- or reignite -- suddenly. New relationships may involve offbeat or "not my usual type" attractions, and those in committed relationships could likely benefit from introducing fun and games into your love life. Explore your sexual fantasies, and those of your lover or lovers, but by no means should you attempt to coerce or guilt-trip others into going along with them -- cooperation is the key to guilt-free, scintillating fun.

Ahhh, Monday February 18th, the day we've been waiting for -- Mercury will once again begin its Direct motion. Merc has a bit more bouncing to do in the Sign of Aquarius before moving on, but the Direct station, exact at 6:57 p.m. PST, will remove the last of the slowdowns and miscommunications that have been dogging us these past weeks.

2/18 will be a busy astro-day, with the Moon entering Leo, and Sol moving from aloof, group-oriented Aquarius into sensitive, empathic Pisces, at 10:45 p.m. PST. This Solar movement represents a switch in focus from the intellectual to the emotional, and while it might give you a bit of a start, kicking up emotions that you may have thought had been dealt with earlier in the month. Don't let it get you down, the Sun in Pisces will assist you with bringing your more idealistic side to the forefront, and enable you to discover assistance from others in possibly unexpected quarters. The Pisces Sun will add an element of compassion that's perhaps been a bit lacking over the past month, to your daily dealings with others. Again, this will be a period of listening to your inner voice, and heeding its messages well.

On Tuesday, 2/19, Sol in Pisces will form a Sextile to Pluto, indicating a powerful period of self-transformation. This is a time for you to seek, discover, and embrace your personal power. Let go of fear and nagging doubts. As the commercials tell us, this is the time for you to "Be all you can be!"

Wednesday, 2/20, will find the full Moon entering practical, earthy Virgo at 4:06 p.m. This is a time to tie up loose ends from any projects or endeavors begun earlier in the month, in preparation for moving into a new cycle, and ties in very nicely with the Sun-Pluto Sextile. Weed out unwanted things in your life, and tend your metaphorical garden: pruning, watering, and yanking up by the roots, as necessary. The Virgo Moon will form brief oppositions to both Sol and Neptune, but fear not: the energy will begin to dissipate quickly, and by late Friday, your intuition will again be your guide to tending your own life's "garden."

Saturday, 2/23, will see Luna, which entered the Sign of Libra just before midnight on the 22nd, briefly Squaring Pluto, but forming harmonious Trines to Venus and Mercury. You've been working hard on yourself this month, and once in a while that type of inner work just gets to ya! Take the day off from hardcore thoughts and actions, and feel free to enjoy things of sense and rapture, revel in the delights of the flesh, and enjoy easy-breezy conversations of no lasting import. Everyone can use a little down time once in a while! :D

Sunday, 2/24, features our Piscean Sun in Opposition to Saturn in Virgo, exact at 1:48 a.m. PST. Limitations will once again crop up, and you may fear that you're losing some of the carefully-cultivated control you've developed under the myriad recent influences of Capricorn energy. If you find yourself feeling pessimistic, remember that this is still a time of endings, and endings must occur for new beginnings to take shape. Continue the work you've been doing this month, weeding and purning. Once the cutting away of past influences that no longer assist you is complete, your inner "soil" will be rich, and ready for planting the seeds of change -- and then it's on to another new cycle. Get rid of the old (provided it's holding you back or impacting you negatively) first, and your new seeds will take strong root and grow in accordance with your true Will.

Monday, 2/25, Luna enters Scorpio at 10:05 a.m., PST. Welcome passion in your life, not merely sexual passion, but passion and, yes, lust for life, for everything that you do.

Tuesday the 26th features a Conjunction between Mercury and Venus. Charm and ease of communication are indicated, especially regarding group matters and issues of broad cultural import, but rather than feeling as though you're being driven or pressured to tackle these issues, you'll find yourself naturally inclined to take them on. This genial aspect will throw some much-needed lightness into all the heavy concerns, and you should find yourself making great strides on your journey into the next astrological cycle.

Thursday, 2/28, Luna will move from transcendence-through-destruction Scorp, to freewheeling, social Sagittarius, giving us yet another break from the "life-or-deathiness" feeling of the past week. While the Sag Moon will form brief Squares to both Sol and Saturn, once again, don't be scared! The difficulties will begin to dissolve within a couple days, and you'll be refreshed, and again ready to tackle the transformative work you've been doing, with renewed vigor and interest.

Friday, 2/29: Happy Leap Day! :D I'll see y'all back here next month, Ok?
